Uncle Yip’s is a great Cantonese restaurant tucked away in a little hole-in-the-wall spot in Reading. They offer a variety of Cantonese and other Asian dishes, but what really stood out to me was the authenticity of the Cantonese food. They also offer dim sum all day, although the traditional cart service is only available around brunch. For my entrée, I got the beef chow fun, which was savory and seasoned perfectly without being overly one note with soy sauce. It had plenty of bean sprouts and green onions, and the noodles had a great texture. I also ordered several dim sum dishes during dinner, when the cart service wasn’t available, including shrimp shumai, spare ribs, egg custard buns, and BBQ beef buns. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and well cooked. I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic the food tasted. As someone from California, where there are plenty of excellent Cantonese restaurants, I’ve found it difficult to find this level of Cantonese food in Ohio. Uncle Yip’s is definitely up to par with many of the restaurants I’ve had back home. Overall, a must try if you’re looking for authentic Cantonese food in the area.

It’s a really good Dimsum restaurant. Honestly, I think this is the best I had tried in the US so far. Really worth stoping by and it just feels like you are in HongKong

Its fine. I wasn't particularly impressed. Walked in and was immediately seated. Had the fried rice and egg rolls. Egg rolls are really good. Fried rice was okay. Maybe their dim sum is better? They brought out a smoky dish that made the entire restaurant wheeze and cough. Not sure what that was about.

A few years ago we lived in Sharonville and Uncle Yips was one of our favorite Asian restaurants. Then some changes occurred: we moved to West Chester, Covid hit and Uncle Yips changed ownership. As a result we have not been back for several years but we saw from the reviews it is as good as ever. So, we decided to drive the extra few miles on a rainy Friday night and found the place about 1/2 full at 6:30 pm. The interior has had some upgrades but it seemed to me they needed more wait staff. In spite of that, they managed to get us seated, served and out the door in a reasonable amount of time. Our Seafood fried rice and Singapore Mai Fun were very good. I think Johnny Chans Mei Fun is the best ever but Yips is a respectable second. Portions were enormous so we will be eating our leftovers for two more days. Prices have remained reasonable except for the twin lobsters that used to be $39 several years ago. This night they were an unbelievable $99! I give them a 5-star rating and will be driving out of my way again to eat there again.

Uncle Yip's has wonderful authentic food. The wait for a table was about 5 minutes, but they seemed a bit busy, so we understood. They were serving din sum, so ordering off of the menu may have been annoying to them, but we don't have any experience with dim sum. Eggrolls were overcooked, but the rice and noodle dishes were delicious, as was the wonton soup. Food looked so great we forgot to take pictures! Took a lot home with us.
